Joetoberfest
Did you know you can just name a festival after yourself? Turns out you can.
It is an evening outdoors in my backyard with a fire pit, beer, karaoke, and this time a special toast to Tej.
What is Joetoberfest?
During COVID, I had to work in the office and had to be very careful about how many people I could be around, so going to Oktoberfest at Snowbird was entirely out of the question, despite being my favorite event of the year. Hanging out with a beer in hand in the beautiful outdoors is my happy place. Rather than miss out, I brought the celebration to my backyard. It's basically the same thing, with better parking and only people I like.
So, bundle up with a jacket, flannel, and a beanie and come hang out! The vibes and company are sublime.
What's happening
- Nothing, really that's kind of the point. Come over when you can, enter through the north gate, and stay for a bit or the whole time. It's up to you.
- A toast to Tej A dear friend of mine, and of many invited people tragically passed away recently. Around 6-7 that evening, I'll be making a toast to honor him and share what his friendship means to me.
- Fire pit & heaters I'll have a fire pit and a couple outdoor heaters going
- Beer flowing all evening. You don't have to drink, but it's there for those who want.
- Food I'm looking into it with a caterer. Right now I'm probably gonna have something sweet and something savory. You can bring an appetizer to share, if you want.
- Karaoke I mean, it's me and drinking. There will be singing.
- Secret Hitler my favorite game. Bring your best poker face and get ready to lie.
I have a bunch of steins, they'll be great for the toast. It's optional, but you can bring a stein to fill.
Drinks
About 150 beers on hand (mostly local), plenty to choose from. Want something specific? Bring it. Not drinking? There's water and soda too.
Food: still figuring it out. There'll be something.
Bring
- Chairs I've got a few, but bring your own if you want a good spot
- Jacket or beanie if you get cold being outside, you'll probably want one. I'm not your mom, so do what you want
- Specific Drinks if you have a drink or beer you like, bring it and share. Anything I have is open to all.
FYI
We can't have people bring their own dogs, but if you're not a dog person, just know these three will be around.
- Rigby 13-year-old Golden Retriever/Husky mix. Pretty chill, wants to play like he used to, but he can't. He's a perfect dog, but he's tired.
- Miss Honey a Goldendoodle on more Prozac than most humans. I'm her emotional support human. Pretty anxious, but the sweetest thing in the world. She will let you pet her forever.
- Benny a King Charles Cavalier, just 2 years old and a total velcro dog. Gets scared of new things and may or may not warm up to you.
